CHILDHOOD AND EARLY LIFE INFLUENCES
EVERY CHILD’S TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCES REMAIN HIDDEN AND LOCKED IN DARKNESS AND THE KEY TO OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE LIFE THAT FOLLOWS IS HIDDEN AWAY WITH THEM
The underlying cause of most adult disturbance is to be found in an infant’s early adaptation. When a child’s need for safety, understanding, sympathy and respect have to be repressed, serious consequences will follow in later life. Children instinctively develop survival strategies very early in life, before they have any conscious awareness.
The subconscious learns in two ways: in the programmable state of a child’s first six years of life; or by repetition in later life Every experience, good or bad, learned so early in life is imprinted upon a child’s subconscious, and throughout his later life he will have to deal with situations in which these rudimentary feelings may awaken, but without the original connection ever being clear.
Unless he can become fully conscious of his true past and the mechanisms at work, then the loneliness of childhood will necessarily be followed by an adulthood lived in emotional isolation, subject to emotional flashbacks to his childhood feelings of fear, abandonment and confusion.
We become free by transforming ourselves from unaware victims of the past into self-autonomous individuals in the present, who are aware of our past programming and are thus able to change it.
